The very first Saint Patrick's Day parade

The very first Saint Patrick's Day parade took place on the 17th March 1766 in New-York. It was led by Irish soldiers, serving in the British Army. However, due to a high number of Irish immigrants in the city, the parade quickly became an annual tradition.
